Decent poems and lackluster experiments, surrealist illustrations and a paradoxal appetite for ars combinatoria of common objects - even this one volume out of the numerous books by Abăluță stands for his tendency to release everything he can release, tendency that has rendered him a less better poet than he deserves to be recognized as. (It is obvious that you are better off picking any of his anthologies instead of any of his stand-alone volumes, at least among his early oeuvre)
...like I said before, any anthology by Abăluță is a good choice. This is one of those annoying anthologies that do not make any technical mentions (i.e. from which volumes are certain poems, etc.), but for reading it is more than fine. Notice how the gray-coloured „textscapes” and the peculiar obsession for certain objects (hence the „object poetry” that was applied by critics like Octavian Soviany) distinguish Abăluță from the likes of Dimov or even Mazilescu, not to mention Gellu Naum.… (meer)
