Artless, shallow, melodramatic, lazy, and full of corny stereotypes.

Again I think this writer has a gift with doing odd and intriguing the reader into it enough to keep reading.

I found this too be a little odd and yet still intriguing. I read the next few as well just to see where it was going.

I was a little confused as I thought this was the 1st book in the Protected by Dragons series but in looking the book up on various sites it is listed as #5. Be what it may, I did not feel at a loss of information if indeed it was #5. There are dragons and death. But, there are also teenagers in high school who don't care for one another. Imagine your football team in high school and the opposing team from the neighboring town. Now picture you have to be the only person to transfer to the neighboring town. Tension is one way of seeing it.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't very long so I was able to finish it pretty quickly. The story was interesting. It's not a fast paced book but it is a steady pace. The only thing I wish there was more details about the world and I wish I could have gotten to know the characters a little better but it's a series so there will probably be more with the other books. I did enjoy Nyx and Atlas's relationship and it will be interesting to see what happens next with them.

*3.5 Stars. Predictable but fun read, and I love how badass Evie is. Not sure I will remember the story down the road but it was good enough to continue on with the series.

This book is positioned as romance/fantasy, but I think it’s more young adult/new adult. There’s some sexual content, but the heroine is 17, attending a magical dragon school, and being irresistibly drawn to “the wrong kind of dragon.”

Frankly, this was not the book for me. Dragca, Dragice, Isola (ice) and more punny names just pulled me out of the story every time. The cold open is sometime in the future and is violent and bloody. Then we get tossed back in time to the human world, where Isola is attending English class and dating a (dragon) boy. Then he’s murdered and her dad appears to sweep her away to Dragca. This is all in the first 10% of the book. It’s a lot, and by 20%, I still wasn’t sure why I read any of it.

Then the prophecies started, and I had to step away.

If you want a YA fantasy with dragons and prophesy and an enemies-to-lovers starcrossed romance And can ignore the corny names and cliches, give it a shot. I’ve read too much fantasy to be patient with this.

This is a quintessential three-star read for me. The writing quality left a bit to be desired. There were some very clunky sentences that should have been worked out in editing. There were a few too many times where I had to read a sentence several times before being able to understand what it was saying. The world-building is also delivered in a pretty heavy-handed way. It was almost entirely people just explaining things to other characters in a really flat and boring way. It was a perfect example of telling, not showing. However, the story itself was interesting enough that I want to read the next book. It did help that this book was short but there was something that was compelling to me about the story and that's why I'm willing to overlook the issues to read the sequel. I'm not sure I would recommend this book but this book is short enough that if you're interested, I would say maybe give it a chance.

The writing was better compared to the first book, but it was definitely still clunky and hard to understand at times and just generally needed a bit of editing. The story was a bit more meandering in this book and the world-building that was added on with some new species wasn't great and I even found it confusing and hard to follow at times. However, I still found parts of the story compelling enough to finish this series. The kinda cheap cliffhanger helps to push me along but I also think these books aren't bad when I'm just looking for something purely to entertain me.

Argh! Ready for book 2 now!

OK this book has me completely addicted.... I can't believe I now have to wait months for the next one... And to end on such a whopper of a cliffhanger. Argh!!! Kenzie is a typical nervous teen ready to start St the academy. Only it's not a normal school.... Ready to submerge in special water in a ceremony meant to reveal how many magical marks one will be gifted with.... Shock shakes the school when Kenzie emerges with a previously unknown TWELVE! Nobody has ever emerged with that many before. Instantly she knows her life has changed.... Suddenly an instant pariah for being different, she clings to her BFF Kelley for sanity. Surrounded by school politics, hot guys everywhere, wonky powers, crabby teachers, and a band of rebels bent on war she is a fish out of water.... Take the ride and see what happens... There's romance, intrigue, magic, suspense, betrayal... And a few HUGE shockers along the way. Definitely a book to sit down and turn off all distractions... You won't regret it! I dare you not to shake your fists at the final sentence... And not want the next book immediately.

WOW

What a great ending to an exciting series....though I fully admit I'm seriously sad we're done with Kenzie and her guys. I LOVED getting a glimpse of the world on the other side of the portal. I for one would LOVE a series possibly based on that side? Talk about a plethora of new characters, species, powers and adventures!! For those of you who have read the previous books in this series, this is a nice ending. Granted with a teensy semi cliffhanger as we want to see what happens next... I guess there's always hope Kenz may pop up somewhere in the future eh? I can't wait to see what's next from these two collaborators.

Exciting!!!

I for new cannot wait for the next and final installment for this thrill ride of a series. Filled with love, betrayal, prophecy, lies, good and evil, saviors, betrayals, dragons, witches and a fight for throne. Definitely worth reading each and every book in this series!!!

Fun new series!

LOVE this new take on a RH series. Madi awakens in her seventeenth birthday fully expecting her parents to wake her with hugs and chocolate birthday cake. She had no way of knowing all she knew would change that morning. Told to open this odd, old looking book the moment her folks leave the room she was NOT expecting said book to move and magically talk!!! As if that wasn't enough, once it said what it did it vanished into gold dust!!! What the heck is going on! Was she still asleep and having a crazy dream?? After all her nickname wasn't Sleepy for nothing. She quickly demanded answers from her parents. Her entire world that she knew shattered in that moment. For she learned as a descendent of "the" Sleeping Beauty, and because she apparently now had powers she had to leave tonight. Her folks also inform her she must go to a special boarding school for other descendents with powers so they might learn how to use them and help defend themselves and others. The worst part is she had to leave her boyfriend with no explanation. He was her best friend as well as boyfriend, and they'd been close since childhood. To not be able too see or speak to Quinton again was beyond heartbreaking. To top it all off Madi learns she'll also have no say in who she'll eventually marry !! What the heck is going on??? For years she's dreamed of ravens and crows. Fearing her parents would think her crazy she never spoke off them. Before leaving she asked her mum what her side of the family did....it involved these same birds....yet Madi inherited from her dad's side. Could it be possible to gain both sides of her families powers? Her mum swears not, but Madi is no ordinary person. I'm thinking there more to this. Madi will have to rely on her huge heart, instincts and fierce nature in protecting those she loves. This first book sets the series up brilliantly. My guess there are many more mysteries to surface, and people close they might not want to trust. This is a really fun read!!

Truths revealed and a prophecy begins....

Oh how I LOVED this book and can't wait for the rest of this exciting series to come out. It's a spin off from the HER GUARDIANS series with Winter and her mates. In this one we meet Adelaide and Sophie her younger teen sister. The two are orphaned and moving back into a house their parents apparently owned. Both girls are grieving and hiding as they aren't exactly human. Unlike Willow and company, these two have been moved around constantly growing up. They had no clue of the safety of Queen Willow and her Kings....in fact they'd never even heard of them. Upon arriving at the house Adelaide is met by "Hotty McHotterston" from next door....enter Rock formerly known as Freddy . I guess with age he decided on a name that makes him sound like the adult he now is. He and his brothers live next door and are freaked by this sudden appearance of a wolf without a pack, that has no clue about Winter or the castle. Something is definitely off about the situation. Can the guys risk their undercover mission with the Hunters (infiltrating them from the inside to take down the HQ) for this hot girl and her sister? Something is pulling the guys toward her, and they don't know what.....shockingly neither does Adelaide as until the day she moved in she had no clue the people who died weren't her biological parents. Remember the promise Winter made to the evil Fae Queen Lily? Surprise!!! Guess who is next door without a clue as to who she is?! So sit back, relax and go on the ride of truths starting to come to light, a crazy pixie with a stinking good arm, hot guys drawn to the mystery girl, evil hunters, and more than a few surprises along the way. Bring on book two!!! I for one LOVE everything by G Bailey and look forward to more releases.

I absolutely LOVED this book!!!! Centered around a young woman who is witty, brave and fierce. One who has endured much physical and emotional.pain in her short life. Will that pain fuel her in what's to come? Prophecy, oodles of supernatural excitement, desire for justice, and of course sprinkle in a few wicked beings along the way. This book has so much adventure, mystery, intrigue and excitement. Be warned...a crazy cliffhanger will have you desperate for more!!

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Rarely am I able to finish a book in one sitting, but I simply couldn't put this one down. Issy is thrust into a world she barely knows, without the comfort of a friend, strangers for family and that internal pull for someone she isn't supposed to be feeling. The story often changes point-of-view, but unlike many books that use this tactic, it's only done enough for you to offer further understanding of the drive other characters, not so much to confuse the plot.

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoy the banter, the world the author has created (along with a slightly more casual approach to dragons than I'm used to in PR novels) and the characters written. The main character is strong but uncertain, the guys are flawed but alluring... all of which makes for a great paranormal romance.

And then with that ending... Without spoiling, I will simply say, you'll be eager to reach for the next book.

Though Isola regains her memories of her real life, she has to work at getting the memories of her dear guards back so they can help her return home and regain the throne. Little more steam, little more action in this book compared to the first. It was nice to see slightly different sides of all the characters we met from the first book, as they navigate their falsified lives, yet all still connected by Fate and design.

The series still hasn't lost its fire, and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

This was the very perfect ending to such an enjoyable series. It continued to build the feud between Isola's and Tatarina's armies, held the tension of whether or not Isola would save her beloved Eli in time, and showed us what a queen should really look like. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and though I'm sad that the series is over, it was certainly one I'll revisit in the future.

Interesting pirate book

This is the first book of the series. Most of it is spent introducing the characters and world. I do like the fantasy elements, changed ones and dragons and magic. The men are all pretty hot and I'm excited to see where the story goes from here! Quick and easy read with a little bit of romance.

For the second book on the series, I thought it was okay. Cass was in the dungeon almost the entire time, but she got close to her pirates so that was good. There was only a little smut, but the love among them was nice to read. I liked the games the king had them play, I would've liked more of those. I'm hoping we get to see the dragon more next book, along with more of Cass's powers she now has. And hopefully more smutty fun with the 6 men! ;)

Nice conclusion

How can you not like a book with super hot pirates? Cassandra's six pirates are all so sweet and sexy and the smug scenes are well written. I like the mythology behind the story as well, with the sea God and the chosen. The story moved pretty quickly which made it easy to get through. I really liked the dragon and seeing the different powers people had. And there's a spin off for Everly which makes me happy!

I liked the storyline, but it felt like enough time wasn’t taken to really individualize the guy, so they all kinda felt the same.
