This book was a mixed bag for me.

The main characters are Blayne and Alexi. Blayne is put into Witness Protection after she witnesses a mob murder and is willing to testify. (The mob doesn't want her to testify - aka want to kill her). That's where Alexi comes in, she's a recently former WITSEC Inspector (with an intense back story relating to the 'former' part of that title), who gets called in on a favor to protect Blayne. It's definitely a good thing she's there as the two of them go on a crazy journey from the US to Canada and beyond. It was a ride.

I do have to say that for most of the book (except for here and there) I mostly didn't like Alexi. Everything she did grated on my nerves. I did mostly like the Blayne character. All the things she was doing and not totally trusting Alexi made perfect sense to me, and then Alexi would poo poo Blayne and I would be come incensed. I think I was supposed to eventually like Alexi by the end, I just never did.

I did also really liked the secondary characters. Wish there had been more Claudia and Vox, they were awesome.

Overall I liked the story, the tension of the non-romantic chase was very nice, I just couldn't totally get on board with the romance party of the story.

Baldwin's novel was enjoyable work of lesbian popular fiction. The character's had some depth, the dialogue was well written (with an occasional cliche that made me chuckle), and overall a good story. A great diversion from the flood of must reads.½

Good adventure story. Not sure about the placement of the ending, though. Enjoyable read. Will read more by this author.

That was. Wow.

It's the story of Isabel. Her friend Gillian enters her in a magazine contest and Isabel wins the grand prize, going to Paris, Rome, Cairo, and the Bahamas as well as getting a make over and being the Cover Girl. She's a cake decorator, very controlled and buttoned up, always with a plan or itinerary.

Then there's Kash. She's a world famous photographer who's also quite the play girl, and who gets drafted by her friend, the Publisher of the magazine to do the photos.

Of course, because this is a romance the two characters find that they're drawn to each other. But Kash's past and hang ups get in the way quite a bit.

It was an intense book. Is there such a thing as a sex thriller, because that's how it felt while reading it. Every chapter, every scene was like a thriller, but instead of action each of the words even were filled with sex. It was different and cool.

I also liked that it wasn't as straightforward a lesbian romance as some that I've read. Ihad a niggling of doubt at times over whether Kash and Isabel would end up together. And that made this a cool and different sort of novel.

Lives depend on two women when a train derails high in the remote Alps due to an avalanche. Hudson Mead who is an extreme skier and Steffi Graham who is a rock climber set out over deadly terrain to get help for the others who are buried in the train under the snow from the avalanche some severely injured with sparse food available. Steffi is a librarian who does not have much experience in the harsh dangerous ice and snow conditions and to make the situation more difficult has a lack of confidence in herself. Hudson on the other hand is a reporter for the Associated Press having been in war zones, natural disasters, wherever the story took her but Hudson has no climbing skills and is not used to relying on anybody but herself and her cameraman Joe who is her best friend.

This is one of the most amazing fiction adventure stories I have ever read. I found my hands hurting from gripping my Kindle so hard do to the fact this story has you by the seat of your pants the whole way through. The book also goes deeper into peoples psyche on the will to survive and having to put full trust into someone you do not know. All the characters are very well developed. This is considered a lesbian book. I assume do to the fact there are lesbians in the book and it has a very small romance part between women. I believe this book is for everyone! If you love adventure books you will love this one. Read it you will not regret it!

(I recieved this book from NetGalley for an honest review.)

The EOO series is arguably the most popular, most eagerly awaited action/romance series in all of lesfic.

Each book in the series features unparalleled action, cool james bond-y super spies, the requisite innocent victims, larger-than-life world-domination type villains and their ambitious plots and of course, a resident dark knight with an angsty past that pops up in at least every book. Six lesbian operatives in the EOO falling in love with their 'victims'? If you really look closely, each book is just some variation of the same theme. With a paternity subplot thrown in for spice. Mindless? Implausible? Who cares? Its Fun Fun Fun!

Wow.

The book is mainly about Hudson, an AP reporter, one who is very good at her job and very well respected as well. And Steffi, a Librarian from Washington State.

They both like winter sports, Hudson likes Extreme Skiing, and Steffi climbs with a group of her friends including Kris with who she works and Kris' partner Fin.

The story starts pretty methodically for almost the first half of the novel. I wouldn't say it was a slow start, because I was pulled right into the story, but it was a leisurely start. We got to know all the characters, which made sense because without getting me to care or not care about the characters the second part of the story wouldn't have been as impactful. And boy was it seriously impactful.

All the characters get on a train called the Bernina Express that winds itself through the Swiss Alps. The two groups meet Anna, a mother on a solo vacation, and Clay on the train. He's a guy who built the entire route, mountains, snow and all before he ever got on the the real thing. Of course there's the climbing group too, and the extreme skiing group, that includes a TV reporter named JT who for the most part seems to be the human antagonist in the story. Of course, the main antagonist in the novle is Nature.

The turn of the story happens high up in the Swiss Alps. It also turned this novel from a liesurly lesbian romance to --bamm-- a thriller. And it was an awesome thriller. Everything from the first incident to the last was amazingly written, and it was all so tightly written as well.

If I could only read on Lesbian Fiction book this year, I know it's only August, but this would be it. Just awesome, and amazing, and I wasn't even sure who was going to survive and who wasn't. A great, at least five star book.

I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books.

A nice book about a lesbian secret agent. Action, romance and no psycological drama about ladylove. Finaly a book treating sexual orientation like it's just a diference in taste. Perfect book to relax after a stressful day.

Kim Baldwin's "Hunter's Pursuit" introduces a female character in a world normally populated by men.

Kat Demetrious is known as Hunter. She's a confident woman who takes command in any situation. She's a freelance bounty hunter and assassin with exceptional instincts for survival.

As she inspects the land near the bunker she has built into a hillside in a wilderness area in northern Michigan, she sees a car go off the road and turn over in the snow. Fearing that the occupant might freeze to death, Kat rescues the unconscious woman and brings her back to Kat's bunker.

Later, when Kat turns on her computer, she discovers that there is a bounty on her head and there are two takers, one of them is a woman.

When the injured woman awakens, she can't remember her name and tells Kat to call her Jake. Even though Kat is concerned that Jake might be the woman hunting her, as she administers to Jake's injuries, Kat feels drawn to her.

There is good action in this adventure story. Other assassins are on Kat's trail and as she avoids them, she wonders if Jake might be the person she should fear the most.

Both Kat and Jake are likable characters. In addition, the wilderness area in northern Michigan is vividly dipicted. The frigid conditions that exist outside of Kat's bunker provides a good juxtaposition for the cozy atmosphere inside and the warm feelings that develop between Kat and Jake.

2nd book in the Elite Operatives Series, after LETHAL AFFAIRS

Excellent read! I had a hard time putting it down, and wound up finishing it in two days, despite it being the middle of a very busy work week.

This second entry in the Elite Operatives Series lives up to the promise of the first. This one is mostly about an operative known as Mishael (Allegro, as she is known in the organization). Luka (Domino) from LETHAL AFFAIRS also has a supporting role.

Allegro is a trained assassin, a thief of the first order, and a race car test driver and mechanic. She lives for speed and adrenaline, and is completely thrown when her assignment - to steal a diamond, in the hopes of preventing a global terrorist attack - leads her into unfamiliar territory: feelings.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and look forward to many more books from Baldwin and Alexiou.½
