i hated this book the first time i read it. definitely reacting against what i thought was a nicer "parents divorced" situation than i myself had, so why the hell should i read about something so ridiculous? that says more about myself than about the book. i gave it another try about a year later, probably because i had nothing else to read that day, and i was able to appreciate it. still, it wasn't my favorite.
