Conger Beasley, Jr. was born in Missouri in 1940. He graduated Columbia University with a B.A. and went on to earn his M. A. at New York University. Beasley has held positions as an assistant professor, editor, and national-park employee. Accounts of Beasley's experiences were printed in several toon meer travel pieces including The Washington Post, The Kansas City Star, and Travel and Leisure. His short stories have been included in New Letters, The Kansas Quarterly, The Fiction Review, and Buzzworm, which won the World Hunger Media Award for Journalism. Beasley's work, Sundance and River Demons: Essays on Landscape and Ritual won the Thorpe Menn Award for best book published by a Kansas City Writer. His other awards include the Western Writers of America Spur Award for We are a People in This World: The Lakota Sioux and the Massacre at Wounded Knee. (Bowker Author Biography) toon minder
