Man! Just when you think the Griffin Force is closing in, and finally able to capture the most hated terrorist in history, there are more surprises around the corner, leaving me both frustrated, yet excited that there just might be more to this series in the future! The members of the Griffin Force have become like family to me, I love that Augie, the lovable computer tech of the Force, gets to shine in this novel, and that we get to welcome another member to the team!

Rian is a welcome addition to this tactical read with her smarts and incredible bravery, and her and Augie make a perfect team, their chemistry electric from the first meeting. Seeing Augie out in the field was a refreshing sight and getting to know his character on a deeper level is a joy. He has always been one of my favorite characters throughout this series and, in my opinion, it was time for him to get the spotlight.

Like the other books in the series, Second Chance is full of tactical intrigue, action, suspense, and a touch of romance with a lot of heart. The character depth is spot on, and though it can be read as a standalone, as Julie does a masterful job of keeping the reader caught up with the main storyline, I think reading the series as a whole gives you a better grasp, and you get the full affect.

It truly is one of my favorite series at the moment and since Second Chance ends on a major cliffhanger I will be impatiently waiting to hear if there will indeed be another book in this incredible series.

It wasn't the Christmas reprieve that Colt and Brenna had expected, but it was an unforgettable adventure that I couldn't stop reading. For being a novella it packed a lot of excitement and suspense, in true Griffin Force fashion.

Even if you haven't read any of the books from this series (which if you haven't you definitely should!) this is a great way to introduce you to a few members of the team, and get the overall feel of the series. The characters are great and the situations the Force finds themselves in are insane!

Though the majority of the story revolves around protecting the sheik's son, and trying to outmaneuver a Russian terrorist, the moments that Colt and Brenna have alone are so sweet and pretty passionate given the situations they find themselves in. I loved reading about their relationship in The Captain, but in The Captain's Christmas Promise you see without a doubt their love and devotion for each other. They are truly a couple that is meant to be!

I have been on a big holiday novella binge these past few weeks, but this one has stayed separate in my mind. It has the perfect balance of suspense and action, and though it is not a traditional Christmas tale, it is still unforgettable and full of blessings, the love of family, and cherishing every precious moment we can with the ones we love, just like a Christmas novella should. Awesome read and the perfect addition to the Griffin Force series!

*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author. All views and opinions are completely honest, and my own.

The regency era is one that I easily get lost in. The fashion, the traditions, and mannerisms in and of themselves are fascinating, especially when compared to our times but there is one aspect of this era that always bothers me: the amount of forced marriages. I have always been one to marry for love, and cannot begin to imagine being forced to spend the rest of my life with someone only because of money or a contract. Sadly, this is where we find Elizabeth.

Elizabeth's character could not be sweeter. She truly has a heart of gold, but all her narcissistic father can see is what an embarrassment she is to him and their family, all because of a handicap, a stutter, that she fights so hard to keep control over.

Alec, the Scottish Highlander, is the newly appointed Earl of Suffield, and from the instant he meets Elizabeth all he sees is grace and beauty, gazing past the impediment, to see her true spirit. Alec is a strong man with a charming countenance that gleams for the page, especially when he is in the presence of Elizabeth and his mother, but sadly many in England can only see his nationality, and not his strength of character. Both Alec and Elizabeth have their own unique battles to fight, but now they don't have to fight alone, and it is a joy to watch them both build each other up, accepting each other for who they truly are inside.

Earl Lindley is Elizabeth's forced betrothed, and he is absolute scum. I growled at the pages each time this scumbag was in a scene. Both him and Elizabeth's father are the absolute worst, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what justice would befall them both. The strong emotion that I felt just shows the power Julie has with a pen. She has once again captured my heart and imagination with The Highlander's Hidden Heart. It was engaging, intriguing, had all the feels, and was the perfect weekend escape. I cannot recommend highly enough!
