This book is organized topically ("Building the Iron Range," "Logging in the North Woods," and so forth). There is much more here on the early days in Lake County history than there is on more recent times; only two chapters out of twelve cover the period after WWII. The lengthy fictionalized account of the elder Charlemagne Tower's meeting with Helen Williams (to borrow money to tide the Minnesota Iron Company over until it could begin to make money) seemed unnecessary.
