Chris Blewitt has created a story based on a way in which George Washington ”could” have ended the Revolutionary War and supported it citing past and current political alliances.

A story with adventure, drama, and puzzle-solving, while being subjected to a current day conspiracy. It is a hunt reminiscent of the movie “National Treasure”.

In 1778, during the peak of the Revolutionary War, a secret document is written by George Washington, then it is hidden. It was to be passed down and guarded by each successive President and Vice President, never to be seen by the citizens of the Republic. However, when Abraham Lincoln was it guardian it was lost due to the actions of John Wilkes Booth.

This is the search for the artifact..

Fast-paced and enjoyable.

I would probably give this 2.5. The writing is a little rough and the storyline wasn't real smooth.

This book is a good candidate for the middle-grade reader: no sex, no violence, no swearing. The characters are well developed and believable, although the use of COOL appeared over-done. The action isn't nail-biting, but we're talking about ordinary high school kids travelling back in time to try and avoid a historical disaster. The story ends with the understanding that this continues in another book. A good, clean read for tweens.

Chris Blewitt's "The Lost Journal" was a fun easy read. It is a historical "who done it" in the vein of National Treasure. It was not a deep or thought provoking book, but I did learn about some of the descendants of George Washington and more about Washington's tomb than I did when I had visited it
