Reckless gonzo-esque writing. What the hell is happening? Who the hell are all these people? Why are they so smart alecky and jaded, cynical and dark humor funny? Great cast of characters.

Once I acclimated myself to her writing style I devoured this lurid sordid solicitous tale set in Israel with a band of war journalists covering the beat.

Excellent. Can't wait to read more of her books.

Anna Blundy does Russia as well as or better than Kaminsky or Cruz Smith.

Faith Zanetti has spent a major part of her adult life following in the steps of her war correspondent father had been killed many years ago in Belfast. He had been the anchor in her life and after throwing dirt on his casket she began building up a serious emotion defense system to keep her going. Smoking and drinking heavy were some of the mechanisms she used to get by. Some of this had to change after she became a mother.

But when Faith is put on a story about the anniversary of the Lockerbie crash which known as Cairnbridge in the UK, she begins to get phone calls and postcards that appear to come from that very dead father. The key to Faith's story is to find the anonymous caller who warned authorities about the bomb that was to be taken n board in either Germany or England. This warning was ignored and after the horrendous crash conspiracy theories flew like confetti. Is it too late to find the truth.

Faith's search leads her to several places including Sicily and she finds out many things that shake her foundation. This is the basis of the title Breaking Faith.

This book is one of the best Faith adventures I have read. Blundy really drew me into Faith and her troubled mind. Great Read!!

I read the first few books of of the Faith Zanetti series several years ago, and just got back to it again. Faith is a refreshingly non-cozy mystery heroine. She's a journalist who is typically running around a war zone, drinking and smoking too much, and generally behaving badly. She breaks proper behavior taboos right and left. I think Blundy must have a little checklist next to her keyboard, and ticks them off as she goes.
In this book, she's in Moscow, which is supposed to be a cushy job, except that she turns out to have a past there. As a headstrong 19-year-old, she met and married a charismatic young black marketeer. She left him fairly soon, but upon returning, she finds that he's still alive, is quite successful, and is still in love with her.

Very confused about the publishing order of the Faith Zanetti series here in the US! This is the first I've seen on the shelves, it shows here as #2, but it falls third in the overall series. As a result, although Faith is an enjoyable narrator, I found it hard to take her seriously as a hard-bitten war correspondent. This story takes her out of her comfort zone in several ways, most prominently by forcing her to revisit her past to solve the current mystery, so she comments frequently about how her 'old self' would handle things, but without the back story her characterization felt a bit thin.

(Looks like the first book, -The Bad News Bible-, is also available from Felony & Mayhem.)

I had such high hopes for Faith and Eden at the end of 'Breaking Faith,' I really hoped that this was published out of order. Blundy's prose is succinct and her story entertaining and thought provoking. I am looking forward to more from this series and author.

The latest Faith Zanetti in which she's not as much of a war correspondent. On asignment in Italy she is dredging up her past trying to tell the story of a Lockerbie-esque bombing some 25 years earlier. A couple of twists and revelations make this a wonderful character study. If this is the last in the series, I'm satisfied. But I would love to read more from Blundy and about Faith.½

Different than the first (this is actually the third in the series), Faith Zanetti finds herself back in Russia running the bureau. Throw in a murder, a thought-to-be-dead husband and some family she didn't know existed and you've got a great story. It doesn't exactly live up to the 'thriller' on the cover, but it is an exciting read. Bonus points for the cultural aspect. After reading this I feel like I know a little more about Russian culture.½

No nonsense journalist Faith Zanetti, on assignment in Jerusalem must come to terms with her past while solving the murder of her best friend. Not as light as the back cover would have you believe, this is the story of a woman struggling with the person she's become.
There aren't very many war correspondent mysteries out there. And this is definitely a good one.½

I liked this book. The story is told in the perspective of Faith Zanetti, a war correspondent covering the invasion of Iraq (2003).

The book can be seen as dark humored thriller, as Faith supplies us with her quirky remarks. But the main subject is the relation between Faith and a seductive and evasive weapons inspector, Joshua Klein, while they are stationed in a Baghdad hotel during the invasion.

This book raises some interesting questions about the ways information is supplied to journalists, and how distorted is the information that gets to the general public.½
