Alandra's Lilacs is told through the lens of a mothers journey through life and relationship between her and her deaf daughter. The journey takes place throughout Alandra's life. Her and her mother have to adapt to divorce, remarriage, moving and switching specialty schools, and learning the best ways of communication. It takes place when it wasn't always acceptable for the deaf to communicate with sign language and took Alandra's mother many years to accept that sign language is the best way for the deaf community to communicate.… (meer)
