Just because people have money and social standing does not mean that they also have taste and style.

The pictures are stunning. Some I have seen from the pages from Vogue, a lot I had not. After I turned a page I had to go back to see the images again. I appreciated the photos. They showed the detail in making some of the dresses. When I was reading the captions, to the photos, I recalled if the couples were still married (50-50 average on still married). The text was a huge disappointment. Hamish's writing became old. I was cranky what seemed to be a reprint from the magazine on Kate Moss's wedding. I loved the first hand stories of Plum Sykes and Marina Rust. The best items came from the designers themselves. Whether it was from their own words or interviewed by Chioma, Sarah, Lindsay or Esther, you really got the essence of the creation of the gown from the designers point of view. There are also some wonderful tips on how to create the moment.

Thanks Vogue for letting be Alice in Wonderland reading this book.

gorgeous catalogue that accompanied a jaw dropping (and a bit tear-inducing) exhibit i viewed several times at the corcoran gallery in washington DC when it visited april-september 2002. a young relative (then 8 or so) came along on one of my visits to the dresses and announced when we were through precisely how many blue dresses there were. i was awash in all the colors and the history and the power of the image, in person, in the fabric, on the page. this catalogue captures that experience.
