Bobby makes an unbelievable shot at a basketball game and his life changes immediately. There’s no way the ball should go in. A strange woman sees this and finds him later by the side of the road throwing up; she introduces herself as Cassandra and a friend of his grandpa who is there as a favor. Bobby can’t get home because he feels so weak and sick; she promises not to kidnap him and rushes him into the car and says it’s imperative she get him home and give him food to replenish his energy. Upon arrival home, strange men appear to get Bobby.

Bobby escapes with Cassandra who keeps him safe. Because he doesn’t understand what is going on and wants to see his parents, he leaves their place of safety only to see his parents murdered. The strange men appear again and explain that Cassandra killed his parents and they can protect him. They take him to an Academy to learn how to use his abilities. All of the kids there are learning their talents in an old monastery in Tibet. The monastery has hidden room and there are caves and passages that make the adventure move along. Things, however, aren’t as nice as they seem. Bobby wonders who he can really trust and how he even got his powers. He also wants revenge against Cassandra.

This novel will have a sequel. It’s not that I didn’t like the novel; it didn’t pull me in. Bobby didn’t use his intelligence much but chose to be stupid and emotional. His character is supposed to be clever, but he doesn’t display this talent until it’s needed in the plot. I like the secondary characters who are more true to their characters. It’s not a bad novel, and many of you will find it entertaining for an afternoon reading session.
