I Don't Want to Eat Bugs is absolutely adorable!

The art style in this book is more cartoon-y than "artsy", but it stands out really well! That gives it a unique feature that really stands out, in my opinion. While that may turn some readers away, the details in this book were fantastic! Just on the first page - the stuffed animals were breathtaking and almost real (in a cartoon sense). I really liked the style!

There is NOT a rhyming scheme, which is a really nice change! This story is just a story! It let's the words flow whatever way the author desired, instead of trying to stick to a rhyming scheme.

I thought the adventure Lisbon (our main character) goes on is really cute. The bird, cat and dog were all cute companions for Lisbon to learn from. The lesson about eating the food that is made for you (and not just random bugs and mice... do kids do that?) was something I haven't seen for a long time!

The final pages where it has a little activity was also an incredible touch! I always liked having activities in the book as a kid to make the book more fun, so seeing the activity page warms my heart. The activity itself is finding certain items in the storybook, if anyone is curious.

I think this book is adorable! I might have pushed the idea or theme behind the book a little more, but it was still fun and cute!

Four out of five stars!

I found this book on Bookbub!

2.5 Stars
Was interesting but also disjointed in places.
Also, no sex scenes. Just a lot of build up that goes no where.
Cliffhanger & 'CLEAN'. Yuck!
Book Rejected. Not For Me.
Wish I had know that Before I read it.

Very nice. Light and pleasant.

Sadly my kid still wasn't convinced he might like salad after the book races it, but he did enjoy the story. The art was solid, and the characters all behaved well, which is especially nice in a book about people not eating what other animals eat.

The Cure is the second book in the Unbounded series, after The Change. I liked The Change, it was fast paced, action romance with an SFF premise. It had its issues, like the romantic interest being the “brooding brute” trope, but overall, fun and worthy of a quick read.

The Cure, is a different story. One problem is that it suffers from being a sequel. The start of the book is full of exposition dumps. Lots of them. I believe this is done for the people who never read the first one. However, for the people who did read the first book, it is painful. I imagine, for the people who didn’t read the first book it would also be not too much fun to read all that exposition as it slows down the story to a screeching halt.

Another problem – the protagonist seems different. In the first book she was a woman thrust into a whirlwind of events and a new world. She managed to find her bearings and take control of her life. In this book, she feels much more passive and every independent action she does take, doesn’t make much sense.

Another, another problem is the romance in this one. The “brooding brute” trope didn’t go anywhere and now we get another annoying trope – let’s not talk about our problems or feelings! Seriously, the entire book is filled with “tension” over something that can get resolved with a single conversation.

Which leads me to my final gripe – some of the people in the book are hundreds of years old – how come they are so stupid? Why don’t they take care of the basic, most obvious problems ahead of time?

Where the book does shine is at the end, when the action starts. When the action happens the plot holes are not so blaring, and it is fun. The issue is that it takes a long time to get there.

So, overall, “Meh”. If you’re bored, you can read it, but really, there are much better books to read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a fun read. High paced, action filled, and with a touch of romance. It had all the right ingredients to make me want to keep reading.

The story starts with Erin, who suffers a terrible car crush and is burnt over most of her body. Although she should have died, she soon wakes up without a trace of the accident on her body. That’s how she discovers she is Unbounded, a nearly immortal being with fantastical abilities. Unfortunately for her, that means she has to abandon her old life and join a shadow war between powerful factions.

Although the premise might sound a little generic, this book is all about execution. It is a fun, good read. It is interesting and makes you want to keep turning the page. Erin is good protagonist, struggling to adjust to her new life and learning who she can and cannot trust. She makes mistakes, but she doesn’t dwell in self-pity or indecisiveness. She is an active protagonist.

I would definitely recommend that you read The Change by Teyla Branton.

It was nice to get a little back story on Ava...however brutal. I’m just not a big fan of the novella.

Blind dates through the ages. It just goes to show, this is something that has not changed all that much. A blind date can be a total disaster, most of the time, or it can be the best thing that has ever happened!

This anthology starts with 2 contributions set in the 1800's and moves through 1900 to present day. I personally love anthologies because of the variety and you read books by authors that you have not read before. This book was no different. I have found 2 authors that I have not read before and added them to my to read list. I highly recommend this book to everyone. You will enjoy every minute!

Thank you to E books For Review for providing me with a copy of this book. I voluntarily requested a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

The writing is excellent. The world is consistent. The characters seem real despite the Unbounded. The pace and plot kept me reading. Altogether an absorbing reading adventure.

To date, I've had bad luck with e-books. This one is proving different. Interesting opening, quirky concept (can't say unique, but definitely a different take on the being immortal thing), and interesting characters. Just hoping it holds up through the whole book. This book drew me in better than I thought. The concept held up through the end of the book. Sometimes, it felt like an Unbounded was always right there, all the time. Or right when they needed it.

My biggest complaint is the main character using her ability with absolutely no training, no experience, and it working. It never seemed to stumble or fail. She misunderstood it, but didn't fail using it. Either she's a powerful savant, or the author didn't think the story would benefit from failures. Either way, it creates an issue for me. The romance felt very forced. A guy had animal magnetism? Really? Yeah, too much of a jerk to keep that attracting women.

The writing flowed well, almost no chop, which also helped to draw me in. Too many ebooks have chopping writing.

This book has me interested in the series to see where the author goes with the concept. I'm debating buying the next in the series now...½

Autumn can hold or touch an object and sees scenes of what occurred. Psychometry is not an easy psychic trait, it is not one that is easily controlled, it is not one that can be turned on/off at will but it is one that can be horrifying.

The Fulmer’s came to her to locate their daughter Victoria, Ethan came to her to find his sister, Marcie. According to their objects she has read, they both have ties to a local commune. Autumn has been looking for a way to help other’s with her talent (maybe become a PI), so at Ethan’s request she goes undercover into the commune to help these two families.

Second book in the series and sometimes Autumn is TSTL. With this premise I have to say it is not quite the usual detective story.

Autumn Rain didn’t always have the ability to read emotions imprinted on objects – psychometry, it seemed to come with death of her father following a bombing. Now, when Sgt Martin of the Portland Police Dept comes asking for the help in a disappearance of a child she feels she can’t refuse.

This is the prequel to the Imprint Series by Teyla Branton, giving us a more detailed background to the series. This book was available free on Kindle Unlimited or I would not have read it. The characters who people this series, they are diverse and interesting, the flow is even-paced and definitely exciting at moments. I would like to read more as I found the subject matter interesting.

I Don’t Want to Eat Bugs By Rachel Branton and Tim Petersen
Children's colorful story of a girl and she is so hungry. Too hungry to wait for dinner.
She heads outside and some animals try to treat her to one of their favorite snacks...
What I like about this book is that you can see the lettering on the dark background making it easy to read.
She comes across many animals and their foods. She gets a surprise after dinner.
Love end where it asks you to find so many items on the pages you've just read. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.

Pleasant, unpreachy, story about a girl who is really hungry before dinner, but doesn't like the offerings suggested by the neighborhood animals. Not a lot of tension or plot here, but the illustrations are definitely above average.½

House of Lies features a sweet, clean romance, but the most genuine emotion is evoked in the relationship between Lily, the main character, and the troubled young girls she cares for. This emotion underscores Lily's borderline quixotic quest to save and protect her young charges. Lily's personality is just nuanced enough to prevent the story from descending into sentimentalism, however. Instead, it depicts warmth, without being maudlin; and hope without being idealistic. Add a refreshing shot of suspense to this mixture, and House of Lies is an entertaining and inspiring read.

When Erin Radkey gets into a fiery car accident that should have killed her, her whole life changes. She learns that she is a sort of super human called Unbounded, and she can only die one way: dissection.
She must let everyone believe she died, and forsake her entire life to follow her new "friends". Ava, who claims to be an ancestor of Erin's. Ritter, which Erin can't help but feel an attraction to. Stella and Lawrence and Dimitri also calling their group the Renegades.
The unbounded are in a fight for survival against another group of Unbounded: the Emporium, and humans calling themselves Hunters which know about the Unbounded.

I liked this book, although it wasn't much of a thought provoking read. The plot was cool, the characters were likable, and the writing style was good.

Sweet read.

This was a beautifully crafted novel. The story gives a glimpse into one woman's fight to help a group of runaway girls while falling in love with an amazingly supportive guy. Just a happy story all around.

Worth a read for those looking for a sweet afternoon.

Reader Rated for ages 14 for mild mentions of abuse and substance use.

4.5 stars.

Excellent story. Fast paced and gripping. Unbounded are sort of like vampires but without the blood drinking. They heal fast. Right away readers are pulled into the change Erin is experiencing. Totally amazing.

Erin is an astounding character. She always seems to know what to do. Not really flawed, but likable nonetheless. She had great dynamics going between several characters. I actually don't know whether I liked her with Ritter or with Cort or Keene.

Reader Rated for ages 14 for moderate violence and mild sensuality.
