A very good read, made more so by the fact that I have met the author on several occasions in her role as a Unitarian Universalist minister.

The life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is depicted. The illustrations are colorful and are proportioned interestingly.

The book would be useful in comparison and/or addition to other biographies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This is a great source of a biography because Bray talks about Martin Luther King and his life growing up. She talks about how he made a difference in the world and stood up for what he believed in. She presents this information in a way that children can understand it.

Critique
Genre: This is a good example of a biography because it is written about Martin Luther King Jr.'s life. The story is accurate as it traces his life and the events that occur in support of destroying segregation and discrimination.
Plot: The plot of this story is in chronological order by starting with the story of Martin Luther King Jr. and then his influence and how he affected the Civil Rights Movement. It flows smoothly because of the organization. Since it is a biography, there is not a specific conflict or resolution. Although the situation has improved, it is still an ongoing issue. But the book does end with some closure by the support and holiday that we dedicate to Martin Luther King Jr.
