Somebody said in a review that Jim Burns has not written a bad poem. I tend to agree.

Full of brilliant lines, for instance, `I am thrilled and delighted at the thought of an evening sampling life along the left-bank of the Ribble' (An evening with Victoria)

Excellent poem called Waving on why and when people wave at trains. Did Burns foresee Cantona in The last Wednesday in the month? `But it was only the local poets getting together again for an evening of seagull talk'.
