Trying to treat Ronald Reagan, a.k.a. Ronaldus Magnus, as more than the slick politician, a.k.a. The Great Communicator and Teflon Ron, but as an intellectual force in modern day Republicanism/conservatism. This process, of treating Reagan not as an intellectual lightweight, began with the 2001 publication of Reagan: In His Own Hand (and I would recommend that before this). Byrne describes the foundation, depth, and influence of Reagan's ideas. A good addition to a Reagan bookshelf, but I can see the savaging liberal politicos and historians probably gave to this book.
