Vincent Carruthers has spent his adult life living and working in the Magaliesberg. He led the campaign to have the region proclaimed a Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 2015 and worked with the teams that nominated the World Heritage Site. An award-winning, influential environmentalist, he has written toon meer and contributed to a wide range of publications, among them The Magaliesberg (Protea) and Wildlife of Southern Africa (Struik Nature), and co-authored A Complete Guide to the Frogs of Southern Africa (Struik Nature). toon minder

The Wildlife of Southern Africa: A Field Guide to…
I've found this to be a very handy little guide, covering trees, flowers and fungi as well as animals of all types. It's not as comprehensive as the thick specialist tomes on each type of wildlife, but much easier to use and it covers most of the more common species.
