David Carter is a retired headteacher and school inspector who taught history. He has written scripts and produced programmes for local radio. His research has covered many aspects of local history and was used in resource packs for schools. He now focuses on military, local and family history.[from Amazon website]
David Carter, born in London, educated in Blackpool, became a teacher after studying at Durham. Always interested in bringing alive the voices of participants he used documents and, for more recent events recordings, of those who were involved in events to illustrate his lessons. He wrote and produced programmes for local radio in Newcastle, mainly for a school audience but also some of wider interest. Now retired he spends his time between homes in Cumbria and Kent researching family history and particularly the involvement of his relatives in the First World War. His first book, The Stockbrokers Battalion in The Great War: A History of the 10th (Service) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers is being published by Pen and Sword in February 2014.
