Paul Cavill

The author obviously has knowledge of and love for his subject, but he’s produced a book that is haphazardly organized, indifferently written, and burdened by confessional bias. It’s quite a feat to write a book about the spirituality of Anglo-Saxon Catholic Christians without ever using the words mass, eucharist, communion, or sacrament. Cavill’s book is good example of why Church history from evangelical writers and publishers is rarely satisfying.

Cavill explores and explains the mingling of Anglo Saxon culture and Christian spirituality in Angleland through contemporary texts and poetry.
