Six weeks into their journey transporting Chilean nitrates to America, the crew of of the windjammer "Annabella" take on a female passenger who had been visiting a remote outpost and was requesting urgent passage. The sailors are very clear about what they would like to do with their new shipmate as tempers wear thin and the winds drop. An approaching hurricane diverts their attention.

In 1948 the author was charged with writing an obscene publication and fined although it is quite mild by today,s standards. It is quite derogatory to women and is written in " talk like a pirate" language. It is also exceptionally descriptive and well written . Good read.… (meer)
