Soft, emotion-filled illustrations and lyrical prose filled with figures of speech show the strengths of two different challenges in horses and humans. Moon cannot see and Clara does not speak, but their hearing is exceptional. Midnight and Jack see them truly. A loving tribute to strength and compassion.
This is a very interesting story. Clara is a little girl who does not speak. But she loves to draw and write. Midnight is a horse, who introduces the world to her foul Moon. Moon I believe is blind. The book never directly says that, but it does indicate that Moon has to do everything by sound. This book follows both Moon and Clara as they become friends without words. The illustrations in this book are lovely and a bit heartbreaking. The story works on all lines, but I found it a bit long winded, a sorrowful. It has a happy ending, and in no way resembles Bambi, but it just gives this happy but sorrowful feeling that is hard to describe.… (meer)
