The Werner Herzog reading on youtube is where I discovered this & is totally hilarious. NOT a children's book, obviously, but I'm sure most parents can relate. The Samuel L. Jackson reading is also good, but sounds a bit too much like he would actually say these things to his kids. Duh, he probably would! :-D

An ask, no a plead for the little one to sleep, this irreverent and way too honest and on point book is for not just parents, but anyone who enjoys SLJ, humor, or has any experience with kids...they'll get it.½

Hilarious and a must read for all baby makers and babysitters!

Written in picture book form but not for kids. Those of us who have kids can relate to the plight of the parent in the story. It was beautifully written in lullaby form but with a slew of cursing. Frustrated, the parent is at the end of his rope with the child who fights bedtime.

I thought the book was funny before, but after hearing Jackson's introduction, and weary parent voice narrating, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

Audiobooks 2016:

I have known about this book for over a year, but then Audible sold me on needing it while it was on an crazy amazing sale, and that the audio was done by Samuel L. Jackson. I did wince at the constant repetition from the title, but i do get that parents get this thread bare about this whole idea and that a lot of them appreciate the book for laughter reasons.

Funny. I'll read this to my kids when (and if) I have them. Yes.

Audio version was kick-ass!

The copy I found at the little free library near me is inscribed, "Seriously Theodore, Your parents are exhausted . . . " Yup.

Mostly hilarious, but some of the lackluster rhymes are really pathetic, even for a joke book:

"All the kids from day care are in dreamland.
The froggie has made his last leap.
Hell no, you can't go to the bathroom.
You know where you can go? The fuck to sleep."

If you haven't already, look up Samuel L. Jackson reading this book on YouTube. Without your kids.

Ok if you have perfect kids, (which makes you suspect in my eyes), you may not get this Mommy/Daddy bedtime story. I found it hilarious. I think every stressed out parent needs to read it every night at bed time. Helps you to laugh at what is going through your mind. I love this book. If you haven't guessed there is profanity so if that upsets you don't get this book. I however have a secret love affair with the Fword. Ok no longer secret. Ok ok so people who know me well know this already. So what? Go to bed. Now. No more water..it only makes you get back up to pee.

As part of their Cyber Monday sale, Amazon priced the Kindle edition of Go the F**k to Sleep around a buck or so. Of course, I bought it. And, of course, I regretted.

While the book itself is downright hilarious - no, wait. There is no real term for how funny this book really is - the Kindle version is a miss. I can only imagine that the format works better on a Kindle Fire rather than the plain ol' black and white Kindle.

It's a fun read for adults. Because I'm a soon-to-be parent, I thought it was a nice preparation for what it's in store for me. However, I am not, under any circumstance, to read this book to my son - yes, it's a boy!!! - when putting him to bed.

I suggest the hardcover book, however.

Obscenity aside (which is the point, I do get it), the artwork just didn't fit for me.

I just have to say that Samuel L. Jackson really rocks this.

Hilarious. This book is a must-read for parents of small children. We all have moments like this, we just don't say it outloud.

Went on a little long, but still managed to be pretty funny. Would probably be funnier if I had kids. I'd definitely would give it as a present for a new parent. The art is pretty nice as well.

I love the concept of children's books for adults, and this is a worthy addition to the genre. Children can often be extrmely frustrating to put to bed (my sisters and I were no exception), so I am sure that this book speaks to the frustrations of parents and caregivers worldwide. Besides the satirical message, the linguistic structure is pure perfection, as Mansbach relies on tried and true rythmical patterns (albeit with a verbose punch!). A must read!

Pretty hilarious audiobook in the Samuel L. Jackson version. (I wanted to clear out the short books in my audible queue.)
