Midnight's Sweet Kiss door Ann Cory
I started this but couldn't finish - I couldn't stop trying to figure out how a cab driver could afford a three-bedroom house in New York City - not to mention parking for Times Square on New Year's Eve. Sophie's stunning lack of personal safety instincts and how quickly she recovered from her fiance's betrayal was also unbelievable. Maybe those questions were answered by the end of the story .... but by halfway though the story I was done.

Apart from the mystery of how a cab driver can afford a three-bedroom apartment in NY, this erotic novella is almost perfect. No surprises, plenty of cliches, but beautifully penned with a fine balance between romance and sex.

Sophie arrives in New York to give a pitch for a new job, is stood up at the airport by her fiancee, and rescued by a kind, handsome cabbie.

Perhaps it's just as well that the length of the format precluded background information about Sophie's job or Kyle's source of income. With disbelief in full suspension, the reader floats along on a feel-good happy-ending fairy flight.

My first book by Ms Cory but I'll be searching out more, hoping they're all as good as this.… (meer)
