This is a standard reference book for students of medieval romance language literatures. It provides a starting point for those who would like to begin working on troubadour literature. It is a good reference for those who work on other literatures and would do well to have a general introduction to the important literary tradition of the troubadours-- a tradition that will influence literature from Italy to Germany and beyond.
