Love Dean

In the 1970's, Love Dean embraced a life on the water, living on and operating sail- and powerboats. She qualified for a U.S. Coast Guard license and captained her own boat, specializing in environmental and birding tours throughout the Florida Keys. Her book Reef Lights was published in 1982. Dean moved to Hawaii in the late 1980s, and in 1991 she wrote The Lighthouses of Hawaii, published by the University of Hawaii Press. Dean now lives in the Florida Keys with her husband, Philip Winslow, M.D., and their English setter, Cappy.
