A beautiful film, emotionally truthful and a believable storyline with arresting visuals, strong lead performances and a very appropriate soundtrack.

Il telefilm narra le vicende di una viziata ragazzina ebrea la cui vita un giorno, per caso, si trasforma in un inferno alla ricerca delle proprie origini. Un viaggio a ritroso nella storia che la porterà a rivivere gli orrori dell'olocausto, e a riscoprirsi intimamente legata alla tradizioni culturali e religiose della sua famiglia. L'adolescente Hannah Stern (Kirsten Dunst), americana di origine ebraica, non è molto partecipe delle tradizioni religiose della sua famiglia. Tuttavia il suo atteggiamento indifferente subisce un mutamento radicale quando all'improvviso essa si ritrova proiettata indietro nel tempo fino al 1941, in un campo di concentramento nazista, dove Hannah sperimenta in prima persona gli orrori dell'Olocausto e il caro prezzo che la sua famiglia e gli altri Ebrei devono pagare a motivo della loro appartenenza. Essa impara anche l'importanza della memoria, e come il passato continua a riecheggiare nel presente. La pellicola è introdotta da Dustin Hoffmann , che del film è anche produttore .

This movie contains three short stories dealing with the theme of homosexuality. In "A Friend of Dorothy" written by Paula Vogel, a woman (Brittany Murphy) joins the Navy during the 1950's and discovers lesbianism. In "Mr. Roberts", written by Terrence McNally, a teacher (Steven Weber) in a 1970's classroom struggles with his closeted gay status. Finally in "Amos and Andy", a father (Edward Asner) wrestles with his own emotional acceptance of a present day wedding between his son (James Le Gros) and another man.
