This book is non-fiction and tells about Derek Jeter, a famous baseball player. The book starts by telling about Jeter's exploits in the World Series in 2009. From there, it backtracks to Jeter's upbringing, family, and high school baseball career. From that point on, it tells about Jeter's professional career, including being drafted by the Yankees, and triumphs and failures in Major League Baseball. The end of the book includes a timeline of Jeter's accomplishments, as well as a glossary of terms that are bolded throughout the book. I can see this book being appropriate for children that can read mostly independently, perhaps in 4th or 5th grade.
