I really liked the blurb for this short novella and had high hopes. However, the secret from the title is revealed in the first chapter. There are several anachronisms such as a single young lady at a ball, not dancing, and chaperoned by male cousins to give one example. Titles are misused. I'm not particularly upset by those things, but a little research into Regency times could have fixed those easily and they do take the reader out of the story.
Love at first sight stories needs a bit more massaging to be believable usually, especially with Simon's treatment of Georgina afterward and how she stuck to the idea of being in love with him. I felt that if the author expanded this into a full novel and gave better motivations to the characters for their behavior, it would have served to make a better story. Still, it's a quick read for a lazy afternoon.… (meer)
