Alastair Dryburgh

The cover of this book shows the title as, 'Everything You Know About Business Is Right (crossed out and 'Wrong' inserted in pseudo handwriting). This leads to an assumption that this is going to be one of those run of the mill self help/business books. I opened the cover expecting to find six golden rules that MUST be followed and a call to, 'Just do it!' Should this be your idea of a 'proper' business book, do not buy this one!

Mr Dryburgh gives these theories a prompt, and well deserved, boot into touch. If one had to distil this tome into a single phrase, it would be: 'Think for yourself'. Through examples, Alastair Dryburgh shows how to move away from, what he calls 'caveman thinking' and to examine each situation upon its merits. He shows how easy it is to become trapped into an automatic response - and how dangerous.

Even the sections which do not have a direct bearing upon my work, were fascinating and left me more enlightened as to what a good businessman should be doing. Were a few leaders of modern industry to read, and inwardly digest, this book, we would have escaped the recent banking fiasco.
