Dolphin Mysteries is a solidly written overview of studies of dolphin behavior and communication written for a general audience. The two authors are experts in dolphin/dolphin communication and dolphin/human interaction, and they also bring in studies involving orcas.

I'm sure an editor told them the third-person plural narrative is awkward, but they proceeded with it anyway, necessitating strange parenthetical disambiguations such as "We have both observed ... and one of us (Kathleen) has seen..." I like scientific narratives which bring in the personality of the observer, but two people don't have a personality. A different structure would have made the book more personal, allowing each author to have her own voice.… (meer)
