Dead & Buried (Partners in Crime, #1) door T.K. Eldridge
DNF at 10%. I'm not buying any of this. The ghost is odd, the relationship that ended with a ghost is made insignificant by the survivor's reactions, so what is the point? And a lot of the dialogue is trite. What a waste of an idea.
Shifters, Witches, Fae, Oh My!
Induction is a fun and serious romp through the world of the paranormal. Led by the young adults in the family, Sin, for Sinclair and Sid, for Sidonie are twins and, unusual in the same family, a shifter and a witch.
Something is rotten in Belle Cove, the town they live in. The Belle Cove Police Department, BPD, is supposed to hand off any paranormal crime to the SPD, the Supernatural Police Department, but incidents keep happening to interfere.
Induction is a story about prejudice, species, racial and gender persecution. A bitterness that goes back through multiple family lines and is growing through the next generation.
T. K. Eldridge does a great job making a controversial topic easy to read by developing her characters into such relatable people.
The only thing I would change is the constant drinking of alcohol by both the young adults and the older ones. Personally, I think the story is strong enough without it and the precedent it sets for young readers.
Induction kept me hanging on every word and left me waiting for the next book in the series.… (meer)

Hybrid heroes
This is an exciting and novel story about injured soldiers treated with stem cells to strengthen and repair them, and the negative attitudes they face. It is mostly well-written, but the conversation is pedestrian in places which makes it harder to accept the rapid acceleration of the storyline at times. Still, Jericho is a great character, and the premises is intriguing. It ends with a cliffhanger for an on going series
