This author follows the idea of Saxons in the light of three different prisms. What Saxons were to writers in the Roman Empire and the Carolingian Empire, and what they were when Saxons discussed themselves in books. This is done by following texts rather than archaeology. Thus we have an informative book with some ideas useful for the study of the creations of modern political identities.
