Devon C Ford

HUMANITY by Devon Ford is the second book in the series. I purchased this installment based on the cliffhanger at the end of book 1...I needed to see what happened next. It does pick right up from book 1.

As in my review of book 1, this is not a zombie fighting book, it is more of what to do when the world collapses due to an apocalypse of some sort. The "group" has expanded and more new survivors are joining up daily. Their permanent home, farm, and surrounding area are a good fit, and the group is living by their new set of rules...those not willing to apply themselves are banished.

The other part of the story follows the government officials as they live in their underground bunkers. They were not doing as well as "Dan's" group and were planning to leave their sanctuary and head out into the real world.

There are twists and turns along the way. The story flows well and almost makes readers want to take notes on how to survive a phenomenon such as this. There is no cliffhanger at the end of this book, but a battle with another group of evil survivors is looming on the horizon. Highly recommended.… (meer)

Survival by Devon Ford is a different kind of post-apocalypse story where two survivors come together and make a plan to collect all the survivors together into a community. New faces, and too many names to remember, join the party daily and grow a community from the ashes. Everyone has a job, either scavaging, policing, farming, engineering, etc., heads of departments are selected and responsible for training and overseeing their underlings.

Most of the story centers around collecting supplies and people. There are a couple of incidents where outsiders interfere and fighting erupts, otherwise, it's a blueprint to building a post-apocalypse community.

When one of their own doesn't return on time from a scavenging detail, and doesn't answer calls from the community HQ, Dan and others leave immediately to find this person. It is here they come upon a deviant person and all hell breaks loose. Unfortunately, the story ends here and is to be continued in book two. Since I was deeply involved in this story, I just recently purchased book two and hope it has more action than this introductory edition. Still, it's worth a read.… (meer)

Book 12 in my Zombie-a-thon!

CW: Gore, suicide rather than turn in to a zombie after being infected

Well so many things happened in this penultimate book! More zombies, more running, more screaming, more people being eaten! Loved it. I haven't managed to get the final book yet so not sure how long I will be left hanging until I can source it!

UPDATE: Point of clarification - I do not enjoy people being eaten. If there was a real zombie apocalypse I would not be whooping and hollering 'I'm loving it!'. Just thought I'd make that clear.
