Published in 1955 much about the Altmark was still classified so to overcome the problem much is focused on the prisoners upon the Altmark. The Altmark was the supply ship for the German pocket battleship the Graf Spee and as it captured merchant ships in the South Atlantic it used the Altmark as a prison ship. The story can be a little monotonous but I guess the prisoners felt the same. An interesting story of life at sea during the first months of WWII.
