I lived in the Memphis area not long before this cookbook was published in 1991, having moved away about two years before. Although there are certainly restaurants featured here that I would have expected to be present, such as Huey's, various Grisanti restaurants, and Owen Brennan's, there were also a number of restaurants that I would have expected to have been represented that were not included. For example, there is nothing from the Rendezvous. There was nothing from either Gridley's or Corky's (still mostly a Memphis restaurant at that time). The restaurants that lined Overton Square were underrepresented with at least two of the more popular restaurants of that era not being included. I enjoyed many of the recipes included although I probably will only use a few of the recipes. It would be interesting to see a version of this with the restaurants of 2011 (20 years later) represented. Would the author omit restaurants such as Neely's or Interstate Barbecue?… (meer)
