Alfonso R. Gennaro (1925–2013)

Dr. Gennaro was Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia formerly the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He had served on the staff for more than 50 years. During his tenure at the college, he was Dean of Graduate Studies, Associate Dean of Sciences, and Chairman of the Chemistry Department. He retired in 2002 but continued to consult and do research within his field. Dr. Gennaro was also the Chairman of the Editorial Board for The Remington Pharmaceutical Sciences. In addition, he was a member of the U.S.P. Community of Revision of the National Formulary Board, contributing editor of the U.S. Dispensatory, and the Associate Editor of The Catalog of Standard Infrared Spectra.
