Pretty silly really.
Wouldn't recommend it. I fell for it because it had a colourful interesting cover.

This is a cute, realistic fiction novel about boys trying to get a girl.

Sam is the class clown. He likes to pull jokes and doesn’t understand why everyone isn’t amused. He’s promised his mom to be good. The principal is skeptical and even Sam wonders if he can accomplish it. It’s when he sees Duke that he just HAS to give this pompous kid a lesson. He places a thumbtack on his chair. Miranda sees and makes him pick it up. Sam is stunned by Miranda; he feels like he’s seeing her for the first time and wants to date her but how?

Duke is the arrogant, intelligent student who thinks the other students and the teachers are beneath his capabilities. When Miranda keeps him from sitting on the tack, he sees her as his future wife and is determined to make her fall in love with him.

Chollie is the athlete; according to Duke, the stereotypical dumb athlete. Chollie witnesses Miranda’s good deed and wants to date her, but how?

None of the guys know how to date or what girls think about. This is an amusing look at three boys competing for the same girl. Boys may find this an amusing book that may even give ideas for how to approach a girl and how not to approach a girl. I thought the novel was cute. I never laughed out loud, so I’m curious if teens will. None of the boys come off as great--they are all almost tacky stereotypes, so the novel is a bit of a farce. Therefore, don’t want to be offended, be amused!

This was a seriously funny and engaging middle school age novel about three boys who have a crush on the same girl, Miranda Mullaly. Each chapter is told from the point of view of Duke, Sam and Chollie. There are also chapters told from Miranda's view point. I loved the sarcastic humor. I started the book, not really in the mood to read a middle school book and wound up enjoying it so much. Well done and highly recommended!
