Dorothy in the Land of Monsters (Oz ReVamped, #1)
This book is an interesting take on the world of the Wizard of Oz and has some fun with the monsters of Oz. The execution does not match the idea though and it is slow to get started and the writing could be be better. I would still recommend to Zombie and Oz lovers though.

This is a fairytale retelling of Wizard of Oz which is the main reason I wanted to read this.
Sorry to say this for me was a DNF.
I read up till Dorothy meeting the zombie scarecrow and it just wasn't getting any better for me so I decided to throw in the towel at that point.
I also didn't like how this closely this followed the original story with only a few key points changed.
For example, the house landing on the vampire witch, the Ruby slippers were bloody knife boots the good witch was a slayer and so on.
I prefer retellings that are more loosely linked than this one and this started to feel rather tedious.
which is not a great sign especially as this is quite a long book.
This looked and sounded so good and I was looking forward to it but in actuality, this was a really bad fit for me.
This isn't a reflection on the quality of the actual writing itself this just wasn't my bag at all.
