Set between Southern Wales and Northern England, Someone Else's Dream details the lives of Carla and Matt; two writers, one published and one just starting to bud. The pair meet online, leading to a string of events that result in a dramatic upheaval of the pair's lives.

Carla's character contrasted well with Matt's. She appears sweet and innocent, with a remarkable intelligence and shows readers that true courage lies within us all. Matt, a man plagued by a dark past and the death of his daughter, shows multiple sides of what at first appears to be a likable character.

The third person omniscient narration gave the reader the benefit of understanding each character's motivations. I found it interesting to see the contrast between delusional points of view and those that were not. Mental health appears to be a strong theme in this chilling read. Another theme to note is mortality and individual trauma from one's past.

The cast of characters included a variety of personality types, all of which stood well on their own, in addition to playing their parts well in group scenes. Each one of them filled in some part of the plot. I often found myself on the edge of my seat, unable to set the book down as I wondered what would happen next.

If there were any improvements to be made, I would say that the start could have been cut down, to introduce us to the main plot of the story.

Overall, Someone Else's Dream is a read that I would certainly recommend to lovers of thrillers, crime, and mild erotica.… (meer)
