Izzy's father reveals to the family that he is transgender, identifying as a woman, and plans to transition. For Izzy and older sister Megan, they respond with confusion and anger while younger brother Jamie is unfazed. Izzy deals with what are likely common issues facing kids who have a transitioning parent: the reaction of kids at school, what to call Dad, remembering to use she/her pronouns, witnessing her parent step out in public (and on local TV, no less), and worrying about the family staying together. The narrative and arc feels a bit tidy, but works as a mirror and window for the targeted audience.… (meer)

Living It Out door Rachel Hagger-Holt

If you're lesbian, gay, or bisexual and a Christian; or if you know someone who is - or if you just think that that sounds like a massive contradiction in terms - then this is an excellent resource. It's less concerned with "the clobber passages", and more about the human stories of those who are trying to reconcile thei sexuality (or that of friends or family members who have "come out") with their Christian faith. A great book, well worth a read.
