In my opinion this was a very inspiring book. Written and illustrated by 5th grade students who wanted to write about their friend, Ashley, who passed away from a form of cancer, I thought that this book would be great to read for readers who are struggling with the loss of a friend. I appreciated the writing and language of the book as they personally shared about aspects of Ashley's life. For example, "When Ashley laughed it was pretty funny. Her friends couldn't help laughing along with her, even if they didn't get the joke." The authors were also able to engage readers by using different fonts with different colors. I also enjoyed the illustrations as they were personally drawn from the students that represents parts of Ashley's life. Overall, this book is about hope through the loss of a friend.… (meer)
