The Firefly rock and mineral guide won me over with its clarity and simplicity. The perspective is all about the specimen in-hand and not about peering down a microscope. The text leans toward identification, not geochemistry. The rocks and minerals comprising the Earth's surface plus the common ore specimens are well selected. Sections on meteorites and fossils are the icing on this cake.½
