Chief Judge Emmett Steele is a powerful, demented man on his way to becoming Minnesota's Supreme Court Justice. For years he has held a tight rein over the courts and judges that work under him while sexually abusing children in his home. 15 years ago 3 boys disappeared. A TV reporter investigates to find out what happened to them. This is a pretty good mystery.
The author is from Minnesota. That means he gets the stuff about MN right. Unlike ER which has Abby talking about growing up poor and living by Lake Minnetonka.
This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Love the accurate MN references and newsroom atmosphere. Early on I cheated read nearly the last third of the book, the suspense was too much to take.
