Here are three minor stories about a colleague of Hellboy from the B.P.R.D., the fish-man, Abe Sapien. “The Haunted Boy” was a sad, effective story about a haunted lake in Maine, with appropriate art in the usual Hellboy manner by Patric Reynolds. “The Abyssal Plain” was another sad story, set on a northern sea, about Abe acknowledging a zombie Russian sailor’s need to protect an artifact. The artist with the weird Swedish name drew it, and I did not like the way he drew the ship captain, a piece of bad art that took you out of the story. James Harren drew the last story better, but the story was a gore fest set in a haunted house in Maine (again), with Abe showing he can do fisticuffs as well as Hellboy. OK, but I would prefer the heroes to be more different.… (meer)
