I kinda have mixed feelings about this. It's only because it's a lesser version of my favorite of this author's works, [b:Better Than Chance|20338332|Better Than Chance (Better Than, #2)|Lane Hayes|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388281403s/20338332.jpg|41947269]. Having read that entire series and now having started this one, I definitely see a pattern here.

-Hot hunky unattainable guy? Check
-Slightly (or maybe extremely) excitable chatty younger guy, who's a bit more (or maybe a lot more) out of the closet? Check
-First guy typically wants no frills. Second guy agrees it's all in fun but falls for him anyway. First guy eventually comes around. Yep. Check x 3.

I'm not saying this kind of set up doesn't work because it does - across the board, over and over in many authors' repetoires. However I wanted more or something different from Hayes. This was entertaining enough but Better Than Chance still reigns supreme in my opinion for her most emotionally angsty and smexiest read. This unfortunately fell short for me, mostly because of my own expectations.

The right time door Lane Hayes

Oh I wasn't expecting what I got. And that's a good thing.
I've got to say that this was my favorite in this series.

Nate and Alex meet and the attraction is immediate. They eventually agree to a mutually beneficial arrangement that involves some "mentoring" - mentoring that has quite the explosive results. Very nice results.

In the end, Nate realizes he needs to embrace life, feel more, and be present in the moment. Alex, in turn finds someone he can count on to make the tough choices that much more worth it.

A sexier and more emotional entry than the first two - I quite enjoyed this.

Next Season (Elmwood Stories 2) door Lane Hayes

I liked both of these guys, although again this was a bit more slow going than I'd prefer. I did enjoy how Riley and Jean-Claude basically fell into a relationship but didn't exactly realize it until closer to the end where it felt like all the anxieties finally came to a head. There was a lot of internal happenings rather than external, and I wish these two had communicated a bit more on page (as it's mentioned how much they get along and talk but not shown); I still enjoyed their HEA as I'm always a fan of the low-angst figuring it out.… (meer)

You, Again (Elmwood Stories 1) door Lane Hayes

This had a bit of a rocky start for me as I wasn’t feeling it, but I’m glad I ended up sticking it out because I really enjoyed it. Nolan and Vinnie had their own rocky restart (almost decades after their first stumbling into things as teenagers), and I loved the build up together and finally making it work (and appreciated the angst being over in a blink).
