A nice introduction to the necromancer character, it begins setting the stage and there's a bit of sweetness and humor as well.

This is shockingly enjoyable, and I'll just say that though it has a happy for now romance, the story is ongoing, so be ready to want the next in the series! :)

This is a good second book in a fantasy series, and worth your time.

I found it less satisfying from a romance perspective. Rather than the plot highlighting the right and wrong between Roland and Sairis, it (for me) wanders off on tangents when I want more of these disparate but attracted men trying to figure out how their lives could possibly mesh, at all.

Also, re: the plot, at the end of this one you need book 3, so be warned.

Could have been a higher rating, enjoyed it greatly, but definitely angry at the not-end. Cutting off mid-scene is not even a proper cliffhanger, let alone a proper ending of any kind. It's a very good story, it deserves a lot better than being chopped into pieces at some arbitrary word count barrier, or what ever prompted the stopping point. Reading on anyway because the rest of the story is done and available, but if it hadn't been finished when I found it, this is the sort of thing that makes me walk away and not come back no matter how good the story is. Endings are important.

See Book One. This both begins and ends in the middle of things, and is simply a chopped out excerpt of a longer book.

See Book One. Still starts in the middle of things, but hey look! It's an ending! First one in the "series". Gave it a few days, still irritated by the one book in three pieces thing.

This one was kinda slow. Lots of backstory and political discussion. I'm still interested in seeing where the story goes, and will continue with the series. Overall it was decent.

I enjoyed this. The characters and their situation were a bit different from what I've previously read, and the characters grew on me.

This is definitely my favorite of the series so far. The hurdles in the story are genuinely challenging and give the characters opportunities to persevere and come into their own.

I liked these characters. The plot was just 'fine', but it's a short story anyway.

This was a lovely little holiday tale. There was just enough "conflict" to have a story, but nothing too serious. Mal, Jessica and Ren celebrate their first yule married, with friends a solstice goose and a faery queen. Cookies and drama ensue. Delightful.

Dreaming was another engaging installment of this erotic series. Mal, Jessica and Ren have formed a consensual relationship, but they still have unresolved issues and hidden insecurities holding them back. When Ren acquires a dreaming book, they are all put in danger when he triggers a trap that causes him to forget Mal and Jessica. But the three have friends who will risk everything to help. They are racing the clock, as the Magician's Council is coming to the aisle in only a few days.

Though Tabula Rasa stories are not my favorite, they often facilitate strong character development. That was the case here. Mal and Lucy have a long overdue heart to heart, Jessica must tell Ren what she really needs and Ren meeds to finally drop all defenses to the two people he loves most. There's still a lot of hot sex, but also a lot of emotional catharsis and a very satisfying conclusion.½

Now free of his bonds, Mal and Jessica have been exploring the world for the last four months when Azrael shows up at their rented cottage. He needs Mal's help to create a portal that has never been done so far from the source of magic. Mal sees his opportunity to push Azrael to finally give in to their mutual desire. He will help, for one night without his wards. But, creating the gate isn't their only problem when Azrael learns a new wizard council wants to put him on trial for dark magic, the Queen of fairies wants revenge on him and there's a demon hunter after Mal!

This installment pushes the line on consent, since Azrael is actually afraid to drop his wards and be vulnerable to Mal's incubus power. But, after years of forcefully taking magic from Mal, their relationship has always been a power struggle. Lee tempers this via Jessica, who sees how both men are scared of being hurt and actively works to ease those fears. The sexual tension is high, since the payoff doesn't come until the end, but it was worth it.

I loved how much more agency Jessica has in this story and the introduction of Lucy. The sex was hot and the story continues to be fun. Looking forward to more.

I chose this on a whim because I wanted some lightweight smut to relax with. So, i was pleasantly surprised to find such well-written smut!

Lee's Incubus series is definitely erotica, with a lot of explicit sex, but it also has some impressive world-building and interesting characters. Jessica arrives to spend a year of willing service with the sorcerer Azrael. His power and machinations have kept peace among the kingdoms for decades. At his side is a large panther, Mal, who is the key to Aztael's success. Jessica discovers Mal's true nature, and he unwittingly reveals that she is more than she knows. But can she trust him? And will Azrael let them be together?

The characters are developed fairly well in this first novella, and I came to care about them. So much that I ordered the rest of the series. This was a fun story, with some mystery and action, peppered with steamy and creative sex. Excellent.

Warning: This is not an mm romance, this is not even a bromance. Just two guys forced to work together.

Never mind the overwhelming amount of species, in the end they all sound like drones. At 45% I feel like nothing is happening. The story is too slow with too many unnecessary info dumps.

Overall rating for all three parts is 4.25.

My problem with the second part was a somewhat long stretch of info dumps in the middle of the book, while the characters were traveling.

My problem with the third part is Candice, a very shady, very slippery teenage witch. There is not enough of her in the three parts to make full sense of her character, her abilities, her history, and her ties to others.

As a fan of both fantasy and mm romance I think this is a successful combination of both. It reminds me of Game of Thrones a bit, with all the intrigue, deception and plot twists. The dynamics between Roland and Sairis make sense, as does their developing relationship. The supporting characters are interesting and believable. I do appreciate that there is some trans inclusiveness. My only small criticism is that this really should have been just one book instead of broken up into three. I can't imagine anybody would want to stop reading after the first or second book.

An archipelago kingdom, the inhabitants are chimeras with humanoid (elven by the illustrations ?) upper bodies and animal-like lower legs and feet. The chimeras of predator species (and foremost among them the griffin chimeras) have established a ruthless social order that they dominate, though they are in turn subservient to a religion that worships wyverns as local gods. In a bid to escape his backwater birthplace with the woman he loves but was forbidden to marry, the protagonist entered the service of the priesthood some years ago. His life takes a turn as he is promoted to chief of police, only to find that most of his predecessors seemed to have trouble surviving even a year after they took on the job. And the very dangerous High Priestess Morchella may have taken a bit too much of a shine for him...

Good, but despite the very nice watercolor illustrations or other LT users' tags probably not a children's or very young teens' book.
One of the major characters has gone through very dark times. The reminiscing isn't graphic but some topics are raised that not everyone might want to see in their younger children's reading.
