An interesting book for Durrell fans (particularly Lawrence). Offers another perspective on Durrell family life in Corfu in the 1930s and 40s. Recommended for Durrell fans.
I really liked that the main character, although she is dead, was a poetess and that the title of this book was the title of her poem. The storyline itself was good and my two favorite characters were Sam and Johnny. At times the conversations were a little stunted and the mystery a little convoluted, but on the whole I was entertained and I see a good future for this writer as she develops greater skills in her craft. Believe this is an author to watch.
This was a nice surprise. I picked it up at the library but wasn't at all sure I'd like it. Which is one of the nice things about libraries. And I found I did like it a lot. The story is about Kate Holland who, as a teenager, goes to Florence to help clear up after the 1967 floods. Most of the story is told in backstory when Kate returns to Italy thirty years later. Most gripping throughout though I thought the ending was a bit weak and could have been more convincing. Nice to find a good new author, I feel like I've been lacking new people to read lately.… (meer)

I would recommend this to people who love British mysteries. This is my first read written by Miss Hines, she is now on my new authors list.
