Mother tries to instill manners in her children's using Emily Post's blue book, until the children turn the tables on her (criticizing smudged silverware, etc.) and Mother says good-bye to Emily Post and all her characters (Mrs. Worldly, Mrs. Toplofty, Mrs. Wellborn, etc.). The characters are rendered in blue-gray, emerging like genies from the book, while the kids, mother, and their environment are in full color.

Back matter includes "Meet Emily Post," which presents a fairer (and less silly) version of Emily's life and writing.

Thanks a LOT, Emily Post! is a cute picture children's book by Jennifer LaRue Huget. The illustrations in the book are cute and funny and do a good job showing how the characters are feeling. This book is about a mom who bring the "Emily Post Etiquette" book into her house and her children become sick of the book. The children come up with a plan to get their mother to remove the book from the house and the plan works. I'm having a hard time being able to show how I would use this as a writing or mentor tool to my students.… (meer)
