Every piece of equipment that you could possibly dream of building for your home winery is presented step by step. The book is so comprehensive that it has equipment useful, possibly useful, or adaptable for other purposes: cider making, wine storage (and other storage), maple syrup production. Although we are not winemakers, we felt this book was worth keeping on the shelf for reference.

This book boasts 40 projects for building and using wine making equipment.

Chapter one starts us out with an overview of wine making. What are the space requirements? Are you crushing your grapes or purchasing pre-made juices? The author then provides us with a two-page wine log, to log all those details, so we can make the same exact wine again. We also get a two-page equipment check list.

Chapter two tells us about processing the grapes and/or fruit. The author also provides us with a processing check list. Here is our first, of many, home-built pieces...the crusher, with a list of supplies and directions on how to build it and use it.

Onto chapter three where we learn how to "move" our wine with directions on how to build a winery dolly, wine hoist and barrel dolly. We also learn how to build and use a vacuum pump system.

How do we manage all those bottles of wine? The author give us instructions on how to build a barrel room and diamond wine bottle racks for storage.

The Laboratory...how much sugar do we need? How to build your own hydrometer. How do you measure that pH balance? Make your own gram scale.

Oh, we even learn how to make champagne in this book. There are some extra steps, with one being making a riddling rack.

Finally, how to filter, bottle and label all those wonderful bottles of wine or champagne. Learn how to make a bottle tree, a wine filter, a four-spout bottle filler and more. Then learn how to make your very own wine cellar with instructions on making different types of wine racks.

I really like how this author gives us all the dimensions of everything we need to build the items he features in his book. He gives us full instructions on what to do along with hand drawn diagrams and then instructions on how to use it. This is a wonderful book for whomever wishes to begin making homemade wines.

I received this book free from the publisher for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. These opinions about this book are my own.
