I am now CERTAIN my love (okay obsession) with historical Asian dramas stems from this series. if I had to write a no frills outline that every single one I enjoy follows this book fits that bill.
so welcome back to the continuing saga of Tang Zhi Li (aka lost Song Princess Yi Fi). this volume she gets to pal around with not ONE potential murderer but TWO of them. And as you'd expect she let's her insecurity and rashness interfere with her common sense by listening to the one murderess. cause obviously the chick trying to stab & poison you is a reliable source for insight into the man you love's actions.… (meer)
I'm having some trouble figuring out HOW Zhi Li fell in love with Zhong Lu. I mean...him I sort of understood. but Zhi Li spent nearly every conversation begging to see Tang Hui, talking about how well he cared for her, how happy their lives were...
Anyhow in this volume of Lost Song Princess Yi Fu (aka Tang Zhi Li) yet more people die for her sake. And family secrets a decade and more old come to light. And the Emperor proves himself a disloyal cowardly jackass. And a year passes so I guess Zhi Li is now like 16 so that's slightly better... except it also means Zhong Lu and Tang Hui are a year older...… (meer)
I'm starting to get the impression that Zhong Lu is considerably older than Zhi Li. she's only 15! Which is somewhat disquieting to remember especially when Dai Xuan is near the same age and has been Zhong Lu's lover for 2 years o.o Tang Hui is probably close to 10 years older as well actually...
now that I think about it I should look into the historical-ness of this story...
welcome back to the last book in the saga of Lost Song Princess Yi Fu and the harem of men who love her (a soldier, a doctor and a rebel). Basically everyone is happy and poor in the end. Literally.
I'm not entirely sure how I felt about this. On the one hand--my god its s typical historical royal Asian drama. COMPLETE WITH A REBELLION. On the other it's...well nowhere near as interesting as I remember and in fact feels rushed. Zhi Li remarks on how fondly she remembered her time with Ye Yang (and his rebels) but we saw none of it beyond him threatening to kill her. The rebels have a righteous sounding cause but it's basically a plot point brought up but never explored.
